M42 Non-Decal ‘CKL 517′

Hello folks.

First off, a massive thank you to David for helping me locate this one. After the disappointment that was the M42 I picked up at the show in August, this one has well and truly healed that wound!

I present to the forum, a late war non-decal M42. CKL, with the very high lot number of 517, complete with original chinstrap. Green textured paint, with just a few scuffs and small patches of rust. Some rippling on one side of the skirt, indicating impurities in the metal common in late war helmets. All three rivets are firmly in place, and retain all of their original paint.

The chinstrap is an earlier one, and is maker marked rather than RB numbered. I cannot make out the marking, besides the location of the town ‘Eisleben’. The strap is fitted backwards, though David tells me that this is typical of late war helmets, where they were often fitted in a hurry.

I imagine you can all see why I’m ecstatic with this one!
