M-1894 Hebel Flare Pistol use

I would like to use my flare in my pistol but do not want to use a WWI flare. Do the surplus Czech flares in 26.5 mm work in this flare pistol. I am not too concerned about damaging the flare pistol since they appear to be very solid. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.
