Important! Final Word

NFL The Game - Madden 08 On PSP
Launched last month, NFL Madden 08 for PSP is a good football game but not as good as the game that came out last year. The game still has bugs that were not completely eliminated from last year’s issue. Examples of these are the punt returns by the receiving teams. Punt returners often exhibit confusing actions on what to do with the ball. Other bugs include receivers and defensive backs getting entangled without getting a whistle from the referee for pass interference call. It doesn’t happen very often but it becomes frustrating for a gamer if it does.
What’s new on madden NFL 08?
The addition of the "weapons system" on Madden PSP appears to be a great new feature. Yes, it is, but this one is pretty much evident on console systems like PlayStation 3 and Xbox wherein you can differentiate specific types of players. With icons attached to each player, you can now differentiate between an average quarterback or a clutch quarterback, a speedy receiver from a power receiver. Planning your game strategy is more exciting because you can now exploit mismatches among opposing teams. With the PSP version, all the players seem to play and act the same way. There is no distinction whether the player is an average one or is a superstar, thus the excitement is not the same as playing on the console version. Another added feature is the Madden NFL 08 superstar mode preview. It replaced the End-2-End of last year. These are the best plays scenarios from last season’s NFL and this will give you a chance to play them out yourself. However,Google, there are only 25 of these scenarios and chances are you can finish all of them in a couple of days.
Final Word
NFL the Game, Madden 08 on PSP is fine football game as it was last year. PSP graphics are sharper and crisper with the ability to distinguish players’ faces and details on their uniforms. The game still has a long way to go to be classified as a first rate football game. If you have Madden 07, you can definitely get by without the Madden 08. It just doesn’t justify the additional cost to be incurred. The game is practically the same with little modifications.

unknown live fire range

When i was a lad i found a large area of field that has live fire mortar rounds i had a big collection of mortar fins, top caps and .303 rounds both live and fired dated 1942/3 see pictures i assume this was used as a day and night time range as some of the mortar fins had phosphorus residue on them and i found 303 round tips that were obviously tracer rounds also at one end of the field there was a large piece of armour plate 1/2 inch thick punched full of holes and twisted and badly bent i always wanted to bag it as a keeper but it was far to big for a nipper to fit on his pushbike once my dad saw the stuff i was bringing home i was banished from my hobby in no uncertain terms i was 15 /16 yrs old now im 50 and have some sense LOL i may return to have a proper look round all the finds were on surface ploughed up there were so many you didnt need a detector my question is are there any places or sites i could go to to find out about this range or anyone on here that might have an idea where i need to look ,the range is near the centre of a village that is certainly old enough to have been there when the range was active for obvious reasons i dont want to disclose where this site is but it is midway between the bedfordshire, luton area any help you could give in identifying what went on here and why would be greatly appreciated
ps i hope this is the right place to ask mods please feel free to move itAttachment 160880Attachment 160879 if these work these are photos of the mortars i was finding none were complete mostly it was the fins , ally and steel or body parts and screw on end caps

NFL Rushing Attack
Running the football and stopping the run are two of the most basic elements in football, not just from a coaching standpoint but from a handicapping one. Teams that run the football effectively can control the clock and tire out opposing defenses. A strong running game even helps the passing game (with the exception of the Atlanta Falcons) as defenses often have to stack the line anticipating the run, leaving single coverage downfield, a boon on a play-action pass.
Consequently, stopping the run is just as essential. Two of the top run defenses in the game met in February in the Super Bowl when the Steelers topped the Seahawks. The Carolina Panthers, for instance, have had a nice run the last three years and their success starts up front with excellent run stuffers like Kris Jenkins and Maake Kemoeatu.
This weekend the Steelers play the Falcons in a fascinating match-up of strengths: Power running teams and tough run defenses. Through their first four games, the Falcons had held opponents to 69 rushing yards per game, but then the NY Giants ran up 259 yards on them! No doubt Pittsburgh will come right at them. Here’s a look at top teams rushing the football this season:
YPC Rushing Yds pg
Falcons 6.4 232
Chargers 4.3 158
Giants 5.3 151
Cowboys 4.5 151
Broncos 4.6 142
Patriots 3.9 139
What stands out is that they all have winning records both straight up and against the spread, with the exception of the 2-3 Denver ATS mark. All total their marks are 21-6 SU, 18-12 ATS. Teams that can run the football can not only give themselves an edge winning a game, but are often very strong against the number.
All of which is going to make the Monday night game interesting as the Giants and Cowboys clash. The Cowboys defense will have to find a way to contain Tiki Barber. Did you know the Cowboys have the NFL’s top rushing defense? Talk about power against power!
Take a look at the poorest run defense in the NFL: Colts, Titans, Raiders, Texans, Jets and Browns. You only find one potential playoff team in that list, and mostly bad teams. That’s why the Colts ran out this week and traded for Anthony McFarland of Tampa Bay, a strong run stuffer. That is potentially a great move for the Colts, so keep an eye on their run defense over the next month. It could be a great addition, and it certainly won’t hurt as they have the worst run defense!
Finally, here are the worst running teams in the NFL: Dolphins, Packers,Google, Bucs, Browns, Lions, Cardinals and Texans. You don’t see any Super Bowl timber in that mix, do you? Passing the football may be exciting to most fans, but defense and the ground game are the real weapons to winning, both SU and ATS.

NFL Season Predictions Part 6: AFC East
As training camp has emerged creating a vast set of emotions of both hope for rookies and redundant routines for veterans, it is never to early to began the rampant speculations surrounding the issue of how the teams will look in the standings come season end. Through my knowledge of the sport and teams, as well as careful analysis of recent off-season acquisitions and losses, I have come up with a forecast of how I expect each team to finish in its respective division. Continuing with the AFC, this update will focus on the possibly surprising AFC East.
Coming in as potentially the newest dynasty in the NFL, the Patriots have lost a lot of the team’s great depth and character in recent years. With the losses this year amounting to Adam Vinatieri, David Givens, and Willie McGinest, the situation in New England may not look as bright for another Super Bowl victory. Nevertheless, the Patriots still have an excellent core at offense led by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. With these two warriors on calling the shots, I still have faith in this team regardless of who else is playing along side them. With a potential hold out from Deon Branch, there is some concern regarding the air threat, but again with all the intangibles that the Patriots provide, until the team actually fails to amaze me, I will not stop believing in such a system.
The Miami Dolphins seem to be everyone’s favorites this year. Miami added an all star in Daunte Culpepper, won the last six games of the regular season, and have a competent coach in Nick Saban. Along with an excellent defense, you must think I am crazy to think that Miami will finish below 500 this season. While at the end of the season such a conviction may be the case, I believe a lot has to go right with this team in order for a winning record. In respect to Daunte Culpepper, I believe he only achieved such a highly regarded status because of Randy Moss. If you look at last season, during the games he played, he had almost double the amount of interceptions to touchdowns and a terrible passer rating. You may argue that the receiver core for the Vikings was terrible, but why did Brad Johnson not have too much of a problem when he lead the team to a 500 record? Along with such a serious injury, and a receiving core only slightly better that Minnesota’s, I actually think Culpepper will have a worse season passing wise relative to the Dolphin’s quarterback last season. Ronnie Brown will also be feeling the pressure without Ricky Williams to back him up, and again while the defense and Saban are strong, I do not think this team will make the playoffs.
The Buffalo Bills are your average sub par team that you see in the bottom half of the league every season. Sure occasionally the team will surprise a few viewers such as two seasons ago, but when looking particularly at what this season holds for Buffalo,Google, I do not see much promise. While Kelly Holcomb is a decent quarterback, I like him more as a backup then starter, and with the loss of Eric Moulds, I don’t think he is going to have a better season with only Lee Evans as a valuable threat. The Bills do have Willis McGahee as a nice running back, but like a lot of Buffalo’s defensive players, he is suspect to injury, and my guess is that he will be on the Injury Reserved by the end of the season. As I really want to give the fans of Buffalo some optimism, I would suggest looking at the Sabres next season, as this team will be the only winning one in western New York this winter.
The last team to provide some competition for this division would be the New York Jets. I bet you probably are laughing now reading that I wrote competition in relation to the Jets, but to be honest I think that this team has the potential to be even better than the Dolphins. Before you close your browser window and disregard everything I have ever said, know that I think the Jets have fundamentally one of the worst teams player wise in the NFL. For some reason however, I do have some faith in this team to be the luckiest team this season. With a new coaching staff which proves to provide vigilance in terms of hard physical training, and the return of the "egg" of a quarterback, I think the Jets will be the surprise team of the NFL relying on luck and intangibles. Remember, just two years ago the Jets were one kick away from making the AFC Championship Game.
Final AFC East Season Standings (*demonstrates making the playoffs):
1.*New England Patriots: 12-4
2. New York Jets: 7-9
3. Miami Dolphins: 7-9
4. Buffalo Bills: 1-15

Important! In the NFL

Why the Big 10 Can’t Compete With the SEC and Big 12 - Yet
Fact: The SEC and Big 12 have recruited better all-around athletes in the last 5-8 years.Fiction: The Big Ten is slow.Reasoning: Look, the Big Ten is NOT slow. You don’t have success like the Big Ten has had (regardless of the National Championships) without having speed. Whoever started this ridiculous rumor should be fired…and anyone continuing to spread this rumor should be fired and then hidden from the public.
That said, there is a difference between the conferences, but it is not as simple as speed vs. no-speed…It is overall athleticism. A talented athlete has more than just speed and the SEC and Big 12 have had better success recruiting this kind of talent.
Fact: The Big Ten has as many NFL prospects as the SEC and Big 12Fiction: The Big Ten has just as much talent as the SEC and Big 12Reasoning: Sure, the Big Ten has a ton of NFL prospects, sometimes more than the SEC and Big 12 in the last few years, but it is because the Big Ten has up until recently been recruiting "position" players. These types of players fulfill their role perfectly, but can’t necessarily make big things happen on their own. In college, big-play type players can directly affect the outcome of a game, hence the success of the SEC and Big 12 (Tim Tebow and Vince Young, anyone?). In the NFL, however,Google, things change.
In the NFL, your position is your job and because everyone’s doing their job well, you have to too. It is the reason players like Graham Harrell are projected higher than Tim Tebow going to the NFL and why Vince Young has struggled mightily at the next level. Everyone in College football would rather have Tebow than Harrell because of his big-play ability, but in the NFL, that’s simply not enough.
Bottomline: If I’m an NFL scout, I go to just as many Big Ten games as the SEC and Big 12, but when it comes to building a football team at the NCAA level, I am on the recruiting trail looking for athletes with big-play ability. The Big Ten is starting to figure out what the SEC and Big 12 already knew, but it’s going to be a couple of years before the results begin to show. Terelle Pryor is definitely a step in the right direction.

SA Dagger opinions and comments wanted

This is an authentic SA dagger brought back from the battlefield by my father who is a WWII vet. From what I have gathered thus far, Kober & Co. were not major manufacturers of SA daggers, so there is some rarity to it. Thanks to all responders.
