Finally took some time to start photographing the parade tunics that I acquired through the recent Andreas Thies auction.

This first one is to to an Oberfeldwebel in IR 40 and came with matching slate gray parade trousers with white piping.
Infanterie Regiment 40 was formed in 1934 in Augsburg and the tailor shop is appropriately from that city. The regiment fought in Poland and France as part of the 27. Infanterie Division. In late 1940 the division was reorganized to form the 17. Panzer Division and the regiment was renamed Schuetzen Regiment 40.
This professional NCO was evidently a bit of a clothes horse and had fancy red panels for the front interior pieces done up at the tailor. Reminds me of general officer’s overcoats, but I have seen this before on a Waffenrock or two.

Hi am a newby and I was informed that I could possibly get some help on this forum! This is the grandfather of a friend of mine. He was born in Russia SPB in 1880 and served in the military. He passed in 1976 and no one ever asked him what he did in the Czars military… we are hoping the uniform might tell us something.
His name was Konstantin Mikhailovich Geystor. As you can see the photo was taken in SPB by Julius Weidenbaum.

I’ve recently purchased a SS erkennungsmarke and can find very little info about the unit. Any help would be appreciated. The unit is 2nd Company, SS Kraftfahr Abteilung 2. I know it’s a transportation unit, but is it part of a larger unit, like a known SS division? I thank you for your time.

I am trying to find what type of uniform this is … this man (Konstantine Gaystor) was born in 1880 and the photo is from Saint Petersburg…so obviously pre-revolution.
Any idea at all! I have many photos on my Flickr site from WWII.
