NVA EM/NCO visor cap from 1966

While not as rare as Steve’s fantastic GT visor he showed a few weeks back, this one is still of some collectable merit as well. A woolen visor cap for enlisted men and NCO’s from 1966, with a vulcanfiber visor. Infantry enlisted caps from the 60’s seem to be more difficult to get compared to officer’s variants (Same goes for tunics as well).
The use of vulcanfiber (vulcanized fiber) in visor caps ended in 1968. Plastic visors appeared in 1967 but existing stocks of vulcanfiber visors were used for a while. The chinstrap is also of real leather instead of vinyl/plastic. The sweat diamond has a nametag attached to it, reading ”Herrmann”, which is a very nice little touch. When I purchased this cap, it was very dirty and I had to use liquid nail polish to remove the thick layers of filth from the visor and the cap badge (Which unfortunately has lost it’s silver coloring).
