Hello from the Netherlands

Hello Everyone,

I am a new member of this forum. My special interests go to WW2 medals of al nations. I have an extensive knowledge of medals, mostly Dutch and US, but any question is welcome. I really enjoy revealing new information. But sometimes I just am not up to speed with a strange medal or a strange variation on a medal, and really need the forum members help.

Cheers
Sampo

A couple of “bread bags”

Pretty standard army breadbag, stained. Markings are hard to read, but 18九 date (Sept. 1943)

This came with it. I’d like to think it’s navy, but more likely civilian.

Hello from New England

Hello everyone! I’m a military collector and I want to get some opinions on a few of my items! Thanks

Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber, R.S. Rudolf Souval

I was recently able to add this very nice silver example to my PAB collection. :)
The examples with the broad maker mark are believed to be the earliest production from this maker. This is thought to be the case due to the fact that the hardware fits exactly into the formed guide lines for the hinge and catch. They can be found with round wire pins, as well as broad pins.
The earliest silver grades received a copper base coat on the obverse, as well as the reverse, before the high quality Brennilac finish was applied. The later ones only received the copper base coat on the obverse.
Unfortunately, the copper base coat on the reverse of this example has started to separate, and lift.
This example retains all of the silver finish on the obverse.
Ralph.

Fire Police M34 DD Helmet

Fire/Police M34 DD square dip and I believe the stamp "P.D." is for maker Paul Diener. This helmet is outside of my focus (Heer/Luftwaffe) but I bought it back in 1989 when I was pretty much still a kid and easily distracted by anything TR that looked "cool". The condition of the helmet caught my eye. All of the leather in excellent shape and still nice and supple to this day. It does have a fairly sloppy national decal but the Polizei decal is pretty strong. I don’t believe it was ever issued/used although the comb shows a few dings probably from careless handling.

Navy Officer’s Field Cap

I picked this one up recently. I’ve been trying to make sense of the label inside with some success after referring to the posts here and Nick’s guide on WAF. But I still don’t understand a few parts of it. First, photos:

Here’s what I’ve got so far.
入籍番号Entry Registry Number 舞一補三九三六 Maizuru 1st Reserve 3936 (overlooked on the label and added off to the side on inside of cap) 水 (水兵) sailor
Nick’s article mentions that officers should have a 5 digit number. As the owner was called up from reserve perhaps he started off in the enlisted ranks.
