SS Helmet M42 Real?

Hello,
Looking for help to verify if a M42 ET64 marked SS helmet is legit. lot # is 2383, the 2nd # could be an 8 or 9. I can not post pictures right now but will do later today. I have not found any reference to a SS M42 helmet maker marked ET.
