Luft Air Gunner Award - Assman (Fliegerschutzenabzeichen fur Bordschutzen und Bordmechaniker)

A late war Assmann "Raised A" zinc Air Gunner award. It’s a "true" AG as it is not converted from a ROAG (i.e. removed lightening bolts.). Typically you can see this in the design of the talons.

Name is etched on the reverse. Seems to be an odd name. "amelung" but ….it is a German surname. There is a Luft KC winner Heinz-Gunter Amelung but he appears to be a pilot.

Weight is similar to other zinc AG’s (Previttera’s book does not have this variant) at ~26 grams.

Overall it is in fantastic worn and issued condition. I have only seen a few of these "Raised A" Assmanns, and all have lost 100% of their finish but two. This one is certainly an anomaly given that it appears there is some type of "copper/bronze" color below the eagle. You can see it in the etched name and on certain high points of the eagle.

Thoughts on this?

Here are two links on WAF to other examples. They match up perfectly except mine is in better condition. (or maybe it has been cleaned…hard to tell)
