Need help! Japanese Mail Bag
I recently acquired a Japanese canvas mail bag. I’m certain that it’s post-war, but any information in identifying its manufacturing, or any other info, would be appreciated. Not pictured on the bag, on the bottom right, is the number ‘73′. I’m not certain if that’s the manufacturing year, 1973, a lot number or location serial number. I do know that these bags appear on the online market as bags used for Japanese internment camps during the war. However, I do not believe this to be accurate. I believe this is a regular Japanese mail bag used by the Japanese mail in civilian use. I did find a war photo showing the same symbol on a flag as Japanese troops erect a post office in Batavia, Dutch East Indies on 9 March 1942.
