USN Gunner’s M1
Good day Gentlemen,
My first post in this area of the forum and I wonder if anyone can give me any greater detail on this helmet. Many thanks in advance:
I have had this shell for a number of years, from an Italian chum, and believe it was found in Italy (though I may well have mis-remembered that).
The basics: swivel-bale, rear seam with heat stamp ‘502A’. Heavily choroded metalwork and the long half of the chinstrap has lost most of its length, commensurate with saltwater exposure.
By my understanding, post-November 1944, but would be grateful if anyone can fine tune that for me.
Also, I have not yet been able to find photographic evidence of the artwork style, though naturally countless variations existed.
Hope you like it… and thanks again.
