Question Feldfernsprecher 33

Hello folks.

This is one of my purchases from the first excitable months of militaria collecting. A Feldfernsprecher model 33 field telephone in very well used condition. Since it arrived on my doorstep a couple of years ago, it’s been relegated to the bottom of the display cabinet. I’ll take it out to dust it occasionally, but it’s not something I’ve had much interest in since.

The first thing I note is the removal of all the original information plates on the inside of the lid, and the replacement of the phonetic alphabet with what appears to be a Norwegian or Danish version. I’m going to guess that this telephone saw extensive postwar use.
Apart from that, though, most of the parts seem to be wartime dated. The dates are all over the place, from 34 on the bakelite parts to 1944 on the handset plug. I’ve taken apart the handset to examine some of the internal parts, and have found what looks like fairly new wiring and fittings. ‘4.53′ appears on the speaker, which I assume is a date? It seems that this phone is externally original for the most part, but with postwar internals.

A piece of my collection that’s sat untouched for a while. Thought it might be of some interest.

Regards, B.B.
