40 year wait: Heer Einheitsfeldmmutze

Hi Guys, I have collected for over 40 years now and could never find a good Heer enlisted mans Einheitsfeldmmutze for my collection that I could afford or like.

Well finally this year my wait is over and I now have two. Good examples of these caps are hard to find. Hence my wait!

I have taken a series of photos of this one, so that members can see how they are made and how they wear in service.

The machine woven "Bevo" trapezoid insignia is originally hand sewn to the cap and is perhaps not the neatest job in the world.

Points to note:

1) The wool. These caps were made from shoddy recycled wool. The quality of today’s fakes cannot replicate the quality (or lack of) of this material. Earlier caps are slightly better quality than the ones made in late 1944 or early 1945.

2) The reinforcement bias under the turn up flap.

3) Overall construction. Study how the seams are done and how the buttons etc are sewn.

Cheers, Ade.
