Need help! Where it all began

Good evening forum

I thought I’d post where my EK passion all began. This was my very first medal purchase, made a few years ago when out looking around antique shops. My wife knew of my interest in the Iron Cross since childhood and she suggested buying it. It was the spark that started my collecting TR and Imperial medals and the reason I have now decided to concentrate my main focus on them.

It came with the ring also pictured, sadly I have no further details on it other than it was a Vet bring back. This I am not sure of but the price was right for the cross so the ring was free so to speak. The cross itself is not in the best condition and looks like a well worn piece, I also have replaced the ribbon myself to make it complete.

I’ve been attempting to identify the maker but sadly as yet I’ve been unable too. Could anyone help with the identification of the cross and with any info regarding the ring. I feel that the ring could be a home made one as there are no makers marks on it and again the condition is well worn.

Thank you, as always I am most grateful for any help given and I appreciate the time given to read my threads. Wilko:)
