Question WW1/WW2 British Helm

Good day everyone,

A friend of mine has a helmet from his great grandfather. I know nothing of the varient or if it is Canadian or British. I think it might be WW1. He wants to know if anyone has any information on it. Below are some pictures. The last picture is the best he could get of any date or writing on the helm.
