Portuguese M17, all rimless?

Hi, I just bought an M17 ‘Brodie’ from Portugal. It is marked HS277, which corresponds to other on the Internet. And has the remains of the front badge (is it a decal?)

Now these were supplied in 1917, but all I have seen are rimless, is this true? As they were used all the way through to the Spanish Civil war I guess the rims might have come off through use?

What sort of liner would it have had when supplied?
