M18 SS - KL Sachsenhausen
here we have an huge M18 - ET68. Ex black SS helmet with blue grey sprayed paint. Worn in the concentration camp Sachsenhausen near Berlin.
In the doom, the helmet have two white stamps. At the moment I have not yet fully deciphered the stamp.
?/?.SS-T.St.
1939 the helmet got the M31 liner and chin strap. The chin strap is a mix of civil and military parts.
The most interesting detail of the helmet is the stamp in the skirt.
Kelly Hicks showed a lightweight helmet on his website with the same details.
At the moment I have also the opinion, that the stamp stand for:
"Kdtr. K.L.S. 13." Kommendantur Konzentrationslager Sachsenhausen
That is a heavy history for an helmet.
Why the helmet was oversprayed with blue grey color? At the moment I have no idea ? All my knowledge about blue grey helmets you can find in the GH2 Forum. -> Blue grey helmets study
If you know more about helmets with a Kdtr. stamp please let me know. At the moment I know 3 helmet with the "Kdtr. K.L.S. 13." stamp (1. my one | 2. Jim`s helmet, 3. Kelly Hicks helmet and one with a "Kdtr. K.L.S. 15." stamp.
Kind regards
