Need help! Waffen - SS Visor - EM / NCO

Stonemint, Friedrich & Jphilip,

This is your area. This evening a fellow collector & friend here in the US I have known for years emailed my website portal about an SS Waffen NCO / EM Visor he is considering. After much arm twisting I had him submit acceptable photos for close up analysis. You should be able to click and zoom on each picture I posted. He is not a WRF or WAF member so I offered to help by posting pictures for him to have the experts give a lens to this piece. I have looked through Stonemint’s excellent reference threads pinned tonight with my limited knowledge of visors. I frankly have steered clear in all my years of collecting of SS Visors and Helmets due to the fakes. They give me shingles.

:shok_yikes:

The best thing I felt I could do for him was to push for good photos for close review. So here is my attempt to analyze it with limited knowledge & what I can find on threads. Maker? Not sure? Korbmacher? Erel? Gray / green wool, with white wool piping. Looks to be a slight tear to the top, about 1/4 inch long and was sewn at one time. Mothing seems limited. Looks to be Assmann eagle and skull. To me the eagle has a different gray / silver metal hue than the skull but maybe I am mistaken…Looks mint / new or replaced? No? Yes? The cap band is black leather, three section for SS caps. Underside is Gray checkered. The liner is a gray silk. Sweat diamond is broken in the middle. The sweatband is a gray leather material and under the band at the front are light remains of the cork. Some notes here from Tim.

Based on my call with him and looking at the pictures I believe it is period and okay. What do you think? I certainly don’t want to tell him what to do on my own. Private Party Seller wants $4,700.00 for it. I have seen Waffen SS officer’s visors go for over $10K. I have a attached a few pictures as well from an SS EM / Totenkopf album I have in my collection. Is this cap the same cap that these SS EM Men are sporting in my photos?

Thanks guys! Rossi & Tim
