V-2 Rocket Bomb Cigarette Box

Okey…it Technically isn’t German Trench Art, but it Was originally made by the Germans, so this is about as close to the correct category as I could get. I found this odd little coffee table cigarette box not too long ago and was intrigued by it enough to pick it up. It’s made to fit the non-filter smokes of the day, and table top cigarette boxes were quite popular in the era(not so much now!). I’ve always had a liking for trench art and oddities and this fits into both areas pretty well. Measuring about 4.75"L x 3.5"W x 2.5"T approximately, it’s a crudely made small box, as you can see, but the interesting part about is is the hand engraved inscription on the lid which reads "Part of V-2 Bomb fell on War Museum London Nov 2,1944". Almost certainly a one of a kind unique piece, and one that I’ve never seen until now. I wonder what killed the most people….the rocket when it Hit or the Smoke from enjoying the cigarettes afterwards….
