WW2 US Infantryman Uniform - D-day: 1942 - 1943 dated

Hi folks,

I have embarked on my next collecting adventure! I’m putting together a US infantryman uniform set based on what a soldier would be wearing during the D-day invasion. I have a pretty good start, and would like to begin posting my finds to this thread. I know this is in the uniforms section, and a full setup will include field gear. I’m hoping the moderators will allow me to post all these items here as I find them, as the intent is to compile a full uniform based on this time period.

Up first, this is the M1941 field jacket I’ve aquired, made by Joseph Petrilli in December of 1942:

Next, we have M1936 suspenders Made by Hoosier Tent and Canvas Goods Co. 1942:

Up next, an M1923 .30 cal 10-pocket cartridge belt by H.S. Co. dated 1943:

And last (for now) A canteen set. Cover by Atlantic Product Corp. 1942, canteen by A.P. Co. 1942, and the cup is from an unknown maker (I’m thinking WW1 production?). I checked the NARA for Gilbert Cruz, and found a few results. I noticed faintly scratched between Gilbert and Cruz is "Roy". There is one Gilbert R. Cruz in the NARA WW2 enlisted database, from San Diego CA. I believe that is likely the man who carried this canteen.
