RAF Lighter??

Picked this up today. Took a chance. Has anyone seen one of these? Not sure if WW2 or earlier. Is the crown a clue? Not being British, I can’t tell :)

What ever was written on the top has long since been worn down. Totally illegible.

Would love to hear your thoughts?
