An elderly friend found this many decades ago when he was in the military. I have been trying to help his daughter figure out what it is and get some idea of the value.

I believe it is a canteen because of the size and it’s high quality would seem to indicate it was an officer’s. Neither of us is knowledgeable about this, but it seems to have the double-headed eagle imperial emblem so we thought perhaps it could be from the Napoleonic wars, either Austro-Hungarian or Russian?

If anyone could help us with identifying this relic it would be very appreciated.
