Fake Floch EKII & Spange

Just wanted to post some pictures for reference of a couple of ‘Flochs’ that I purchased years ago, one is an EK2 which appears to have the 49 on the suspension ring, the 4 doesn’t quite have the lower ‘leg’of the 4, similarly the 9 doesn’t quite have the lower bit either, if you turn it upside down you could think it’s a 67, but I’m sure it’s a ‘49′. The 1939 is quite low to the frame, the first beading on the ‘6′o’clock’ arm seems to have a slightly larger gap, than the rest of the ‘arms’. The cross is a 3 piece, with surprisingly ‘flush soldering, along the edges. At the time, I was under the impression that a way to authenticate an iron cross, was to tap it gently on your knuckles, it it rattled it was real, if it didn’t, it was a one piece made repro, didn’t realise the depth of fakes then !
The other Floch is a’EKII Spange’, fairly flat badge, not to much detail on the oakleaves & I think you could call it the ‘clincher’, it’s marked L4 !
How did I come by them ? Well, started a Saturday job in 1984 (was 14 then) , saved my hard earnt money & headed down to Military Antiques, the Mall in Upper Street, Islington & bought them, was totally over the moon.
I happened to check out the makers mark on the 2 pieces over Christmas & realised what they were ! I was more disappointed that this reputable dealer had ripped me off, with his experience he must have known what he was selling.
Anyway into the junk box where it belongs, hope these photos can potentially help anyone else out.
Paul
