How to verify authenticity of SS-Ehrenring

Found in the effects of my mother in law. Her stepfather Brigadier General Halley Maddox , the G3 on George Patton’s staff , gave it to her sometime between 1948-1950. I don’t think they were making fakes then. Is there someone who can examine this and certify it’s authenticity ?
