Doc set - one of the first of the Feldgendarmen

Between the wars Germany did not actually have any proper Military Police. When MPs were needed for major troop movements such as the Anschluss with Austria, or the invasion of the Sudetenland, personnel from the civil police (usually the Gendarmerie) were temporarily attached to the army.

Walter Tronnier was one of these.
