Mystery stainless ammo boxes

Can anyone ID these stainless steel boxes please? They were found at what is thought to be an aircraft crash site on a beach in the UK by a friend of mine.

They do look like ammo boxes, but they are quite small in volume - we think they would only hold around 60 rounds at best. They are the correct size for 0.50 Cal.

My friend says there were 8 of them.

There’s no manufacturers stamp but they do have the part number:

AC ET 11932

If not from a fighter, they could belong to a turret… Almost certainly American.
