Fake and real
I have just completely stripped a original M42, it has been mucked with in the past, was a polish reissue and has sort of been a project shell of mine to muck around with!
Just for ref here is what a M42 looks like stripped bare.
Also I am showing a repro rivet thats has been on this helmet for 7 years. Look at the rust and aeging in that time. Thsi helmet stayed inside all its life, but if you didnt know, they look original.
Last pic is a repro M35 shell (stripped) I bought for shits and giggles a few years back. Notice the makers mark which immediatly alerts the knowledgeable it is a modern copy! But whos to say someone wouldnt try to pass it off as a Mountain troop special issue!!!
