Italian M33 helmet chin straps needed
Hello, I am new here and just posted a reply to an M33 thread, then noticed it is from last year! So I will repost just the question part here.
I bought an Italian M33 helmet with a decent liner but no chin straps. Where can I get leather straps at least similar in appearance to the originals? I’m not a reenactor so they don’t have to be totally authentic. When I was preparing to make a purchase I spent days comparing every picture and description I could find of wartime M33’s, postwar M33’s, and the 1951 model Bulgarian "clone". The straps on the M51 Bulgarian helmets look similar to the leather wartime Italian style.Could I use the straps from the lookalike Bulgarian helmets and rivet them instead of stitching as on the Bulgarian model? Other suggestions? Thanks.
