British WW2 Bayonet Collection
I thought I share a few pics of my British WW2 bayonet collection. Nothing too exotic here save for the cruciform spike bayo and the No. 7. Surprisingly, you can still find some of the more difficult to find spike bayonets in common areas like surplus shops and gun shops. I’ve had these in my collection for quite a while now and enjoy collecting the variations of the spike and blade bayonets. Luckily, many of these can still be had for not much money, but I noticed that every year, they seem to go up in price like anything else.
From left to right is the No. 4 Mk 1 "cruciform" bayonet, No. 4 Mk 2 bayonet, No. 4 Mk 2* bayo, No. 4 Mk 2* with steel scabbard, No. 4 Mk 3 with plastic scabbard, (lower row) No. 7 Mk 1 and No. 9, Mk1. The No. 9 bayo is actually post WW2, but was designed for the No. 4 Enfield.
Some of the scabbards are actually rarer than the bayos themselves. The all steel tube scabbard for the Mk2* is rather difficult to find as is the plastic ones. If you run across these in your travels, grab them while you can!
Cheers!
