Here is a Battle damaged Fallschirmjager with an undersized liner that I believe was definitely a wartime replacement. The shell has concussion cracks on the dome and the straps are "death cut" which suggests that the helmet was on the paratrooper’s head when the concussion cracks were sustained, and the spanner bolts do not appear to have been disturbed.
