Here are a few of my Then and Now photo's taken this Summer at Orbec Normandy. The mixed German forces pictured are the lucky ones who escaped the closing of the Falaise pocket and are in head long retreat toward the river Seine.
You'll probably notice how little the place has changed over the years. Also notice even the mesh fence and gate in one of the pictures it is still the same after 63 years, also notice the rare Brumbarr, believed only 12 served in Normandy and obviously at least one escaped although it probably was abandoned on the banks of the Seine (no bridges and few ferries were available to transport the armour across).

Hi guys been lurking for quite a while now and have used the forum as a refernce point quite a few times. Now I have a helmet with a white R on the front and rear. the helmet is painted black. what does the R stand for have looked in quite a few places but cant find anything. I know its going to be something obvious but I cant figure it. No markings on the helmet that i can see but the liner arm is marked 7 1/4 m&c 39. can post some photos later when i get home if it will help.

Hi all, I would like your thoughts on this 1940 Lafette for MG42, so probably a reworked 34 Lafette, has correct data plate and mounting for opitcal sight, colour not Yugo but a darker green more than likley used by Norwegians, opinions please?
Hi All,
My name is Matt and I hail from Sydney, Australia.
I have been interested in military history fr some time and recently purchased a flag from auction. Now the Auctioneers claim it is a German unit flag captured by the Australians in WW1
I have done some reseach and am thinking it is from the Hanover region as I think the flag has the crest of the House of Welf (Hanover) Which is quite an impressive house. (their crest is the prancing horse on the red shield). Ernest Augusta (prince of Hanover) in 1914 is of the house and I am wondering if this flag has any significance re: him.
The back is black with a silver/grey/white Fleur De Lys.
Any help would be greatly appreciate
thanks a lot!
Matt
