In case the link goes dead, here are a couple of pictures from the listing. Anyone who knows anything about WW1 uniforms can tell a mile off that this is a modern repro. Of course the seller might be making a perfectly genuine mistake, but he seems to specialise in militaria so you would think he’d know.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I sent him the following message 3 days ago:
"Hi, you have listed this as original but it is an obvious modern copy. The serge is "fluffy", the peak is too large, the peak stitching has a huge gap at the top, the lining material is also wrong and there don’t appear to be any ventilation grommets. I do not know who you are and therefore I don’t know if you are aware of this or not, but I sincerely hope you will do some serious research and either take this listing down or label it as a repro, otherwise you are taking someone’s money on false pretences. Regards, etc."

I received no response to my message so you can draw your own conclusions. I realise caveat emptor applies on ebay but I still get angry when innocent purchasers shell out good money for something worthless in the belief that they are buying a genuine piece of history.

So I feel I’m clogging up the forums of late but I’ve been looking endlessly at Militaria and whilst searching to complete my Mutter collection I found this.

It appears to be one of the really early ones that were not issued (which makes me wary of its authenticity) and I have never heard of this seller so is this genuine or not?

Already having a beautiful gold in my new collection I wasn’t looking for a gold but this came up regardless and if it is the original prototype and original I would imagine it being quite desirable?

My grandfather served in 1942 at the place "Krasnoje" at TF amplifier Trupp 11.
I did not find out about this squad on the internet. Do you know more?
Also, I do not know which "Krasnoe" is meant. In Russia there are many places with the name (also in Kanilingrad). Can it be that it is "Krasnoe Selo" near St. Petersburg?
He wrote something about a prison nearby. He also wrote that the journey from Minsk to "Krasnoye" lasted 12 hours (in the truck). Now I do not know how fast the cars drove back then on the old roads.

Here’s one in the junk pile I don’t think I’ve post before? This set I haven’t played with for years and is still hidden somewhere, so some pic’s I did take 10 years back. I reckon these as a late war item have a paper like/mix lining (well smells like old paper) outer materials are the same rayon/cotton mix as the camo set. Deffo original.
