Looking for info on rations

This is sort of a direct copy of my question on Gunboards, so my apologies if you’re seeing this again. I’m looking for information on how the standard ration changed for the average Japanese infantryman as the war progressed. I remember when reading A Tomb Called Iwo Jima, one of the mutual experiences among the Japanese they interviewed was the scarcity of food, and how one of them was extremely upset that as time went on the transport ships brought less and less food, until they didn’t come at all and they had to resort to stealing from the Americans.

Has anybody here looked into it much? I would be interested to know how portions and variety changed. My research so far has shown me the composition of the rations up to mid-war, but not much beyond that. As a side note, I highly recommend that book.

Am I right in assuming that the food shortages would result in smaller portions being issued?

Spanish M21 Helmet “Trubia sin Ala”

My Spanish M21 helmet arrived today. This helmet was originally made in Trubia, Spain prior to the civil war and subsequently referred to as the Trubia "Sin Ala" without wings. It saw limited use and was replaced by the M26 "Con Ala" which had the side skirts for more protection. About 12,000 of these helmets were produced and recalled at the end of the war to be refitted with new liners, Eagle device and painted green as per 1943 regulations under the Franco regime.

Enjoy, Al

Stalag IA

Looking for some help on the tags from this camp please. I have a selection of tags but they do not seem to follow the standard layout. Some of the tags have the letters FZ after the prisoner number, and some have JT. Some tags are cancelled with stamping the letter N and M. On the back of the canceled tags is a number and the letters JT. I have a number of tags like that. I was told the FZ is to indicate a French prisoner, but what about JT or EB. The bottom right tag of the block of 4 is stainless steel.

I have also included a Oflag 68 tag where the Number ends with the letter R.
