West Coast Historical Militaria Collectors Show: May 11-12, 2018

I am a little late posting about this show (better late than never).
It starts this Friday, and is at the The Fairplex in Pomona.

While it is not yet at the level of the old Great Western show, it gets bigger and bigger each year
(I have actually found more hats at this show than the SOS over the past few years).
Also, dealers are more willing to haggle than at the SOS/Max.
(there is also a discounted entry fee for OVMS members, so make sure to bring your card).

Images of two original ET SS decals

Been raining all day here. Nothing else to do but play with my photo shop program. I finally figured out how to "split screen".

Anyway…two ET decals, the nicer one on the left is Ken N.. The other is mine. A good study of originals if one cares to look
Notice how the bottom of the left rune swings upward ? The top of the runes are perfectly inline. This is what one wants to see.

Happy to be here!

Greetings everyone,

I only now noticed I should´ve made my introductory post on this subforum, but I was too excited to start posting elsewhere, lol!

I´ve been collecting historical artefacts (mainly Greco-Roman and Migration period) for some time, but I´ve recently developed a huge interest towards WW2 militaria as well. Up till now my collecting has been very casual in nature; a badge here and there, but I felt now is the time to get serious and join WRF.

My main focus is TR soft headgear (visor caps), secondary being medals and badges. Also period books, documents, award certificates etc. will be of peripheral interest to me. I try not to disperse my focus too much, but because of my weakness for shiny things, my collection will most likely end up becoming a frankenstein of little bit of everything, lol

I look forward to chatting with you guys, to learn from you, to be inspired by your acquisitions, and hopefully - some day in the future - pass on my knowledge to others in turn.

Best wishes,
Mikael

1942 Canadian Naval Pattern Wolseley Helmet

Hi all. Just thought I would share this. Parents occasionally go to a very small rural sale that usually yield nothing in terms of militaria, however they found this and gave me a call, (as they described it over the phone I had my doubts about it even being military in origin, they didn’t mention a date). Anyway, upon having it in hand and doing a bit of research it appears to be a Canadian Naval Pattern Wolseley Helmet. Clearly been messed with, missing liner and chinstrap and looks to have had the top vent replaced for some reason but it displays really well. I understand these are hard to come by? Who knows how it ended up in rural England. Any comments are welcome. Thanks for looking.

P.S. They paid…….. £1 cool militaria
