Need help! Japanese Mail Bag

I recently acquired a Japanese canvas mail bag. I’m certain that it’s post-war, but any information in identifying its manufacturing, or any other info, would be appreciated. Not pictured on the bag, on the bottom right, is the number ‘73′. I’m not certain if that’s the manufacturing year, 1973, a lot number or location serial number. I do know that these bags appear on the online market as bags used for Japanese internment camps during the war. However, I do not believe this to be accurate. I believe this is a regular Japanese mail bag used by the Japanese mail in civilian use. I did find a war photo showing the same symbol on a flag as Japanese troops erect a post office in Batavia, Dutch East Indies on 9 March 1942.

Disaster Averted/Research within our Forum a Godsend

Gents,

Let me be the first to thank Ben Evans and all who have contributed in the Third Reich Buckle Section. Today, before making an emotional purchase in which I don’t often do, I decided upon double checking our Buckle database just to be certain and cross reference a buckle that I was about to purchase. Thankfully, Ben’s known fake thread made it easy to spot a culprit and I was able to save myself a financial and emotional headache. I just want to raise my glass and be be thankful for the experts we have within our ranks and just wanted to reinforce the fact that a little personal research goes a long way.

A think a lot of us take it for granted the years of knowledge and expertise we have in our ranks and being a Club Member is a small price to pay. I’m sure glad I paid my $25.00 and know you all have my back!

Respectfully yours,

Joel

Here is the Overhoff Fake that I almost took home.

Ef m42 68 heer (bath tub)

Well…after the decade long desire…. EF 68 Heer…EF house decal. Don’t think this one ever had a strap installed due to the oxidation on the bales. I know the 68’s are not everyone’s favorite, but they are mine. That EF bird is very difficult to find undamaged due to how flimsy it was made, many were not even lacquer coated. Some annoying "rust freckles", but I can live with them. This one…whoever owned it before me, loved it very much. (Not as much as I)
Thanks for looking, David

Question 1st Pattern SS Sleeve Eagle

Did SS officers wear the first pattern sleeve eagle in bullion? I have not seen any first pattern bullion eagles on service uniforms in period photos. I have only seen a bullion eagle on a custom made white uniform.

Mother’s Cross Display

Hello folks.

Nothing massive or exciting, but thought others would enjoy it. I’ve recently been playing around with some of my deeper Riker cases, and have discovered that removing some of the inserts allows them to serve as handy inexpensive shadow boxes. It does mean laying them flat, but I’m more than happy with the results.

Here’s a display I knocked together for my Mother’s Crosses, along with a short paragraph for context. I do enjoy putting these together. Really gives the displays that museum feel. Pardon the reflections!
