Tunic Display Solutions

Hello folks.

Thought I’d finally start a thread on this, as it’s a problem that’s been bugging me for some time.

Like most of us here, I own a military uniform or two. Currently, however, they’re consigned to the wardrobe, where they hang out of sight in the dark. For the longest time, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to display them ‘in the open’ in a way that’s cost- and space-effective.
Most would suggest mannequins, and this is something that’s been put to me before. I love the idea of slowly dressing up and completing a mannequin over time, but I simply do not have the space. In my collection room, there’s barely enough standing room for me alone, never mind an army of silent plastic soldiers. I’ve considered using only a torso or tailor’s dummy, but again space is limited, and the result would be a cramped and messy-looking display.

In short, I’d be interested to know how other collectors in my position have overcome this issue. I’d like to display a uniform, most notably a tunic, properly without having to fold it or drape it over something else. I must stress that I have very - ‘very’ - limited floor space to work with. I do, however, have a lot of free wall space if I take down some posters.

Regards, B.B.

An Interesting Image.

I was looking at a thread begun by our own FB concerning peaked caps for sale on the interwebs. He made reference to a web page and it sufficiently piqued my interest that I went to the page for a look around. While perusing the items offered for sale, I came across the following image, which is one that I have been looking for across the web.
Here are the sellers’ images of the photo;

The reason I have been looking for an image just like this is that it clearly shows the lion head sword with what appears to be a cavalry design being held by a young man in the service of the infant TR era Wehrmacht. I like that it shows his transitional insignia, as stated by the seller, and the new breast eagle and peaked cap insignia.
They estimated the date of the photo to be 1935.
Thanks for looking.

intelxr the supplement is complexity absolutely free. The effect, be that as it may, comes not on the primary day of utilization. A great many people see better enthusiastic abilities in two or three a little while. In any case, as a general rule the cerebrum feels change in as of now a half-hour. My Final Summary Intelxr gives a great deal of advantages of its clients.

Chief Warden’s Helmet

Hello folks.

This arrived on my doorstep this morning. An unexpected eBay gem, snagged for a more than agreeable price. I wasn’t in the market for one of these, but when I saw it I knew it was one I couldn’t let escape. This is my second white helmet, and probably not my last. Hunting for these helmets in good condition is an addictive practice, and one I’m likely to continue for some time.

This is an unusual one, as the shell is completely free of maker marks. I have checked thoroughly and found nothing. The liner is marked ‘Helmets Ltd I 1939′, which I believe is for the Helmets Wheathampstead company. It is a size 7 1/4, and in great shape. A few of the spacers between the liner and the shell came free in transit, but remain in place now that I’ve pushed them back in.

Overall a very handsome Home Fronter, with a few minor dings and scratches commensurate with period use, and some light rusting to the inside of the shell. One that’ll be hard to upgrade, certainly!
