M40 SD dark overpaint

Hey guys I have been looking at this helmet and I like the battle worn look to it and that dark overpaint looks very nice and loos like it was stored in poor conditions but as the seller points out it does have a luftschutz chinstrap so I wanted to make sure this was not a helmet re purposed after the war. thank yall! Also this makers mark and lot number are nearly impossible to see.

Surprising flea market finds

Hello, here are the items I bought in a local flea market. The tractor pin was 50cents, the dosaaf pin was also 50 cents and the civil protection pin was also 50 cents, also the komsomol Lenin youth variant was too 50 cents. Then the militsiya rank insignia was 20 cents, the German wartime and Soviet navy buttons were 20 cents together. And the rarest item, the wartime Soviet decontamination tin was 5€. In whole I payed 7,40€. Raul

Question M42 SD polizei ?

Hi,

I’m kind of new here, I’m looking for a german helmet and I saw an SD M42 polizei helmet (ckl 64 3193), the logo is without a white border.

- I wondered why there is a horizontal line on the "c" of ckl

- I also wondered if a single decal is possible on a polizei helmet, I’ve read that the majority is double decal

Kind regards

Lion head sword - thoughts?

Hello Everyone,

I’m a brand new member of these forums, so please be patient with me. I have a lion head sword, and thanks to the help of MAP and AZPhil, I was directed to this forum to post pictures and ask for help identifying/describing what I have.

The sword was given to me 35 years ago by my great-uncle. He served in the US Army in WWII and brought this back with him. It has essentially been untouched since he gave it to me, and now I’m looking to learn more about it.

I know very, very little about these, so apologies in advance for my ignorance. I don’t know all of the correct terms for describing the various features and parts. I’m here to listen and learn, and look forward to interacting with anyone who is willing to.

Pictures follow. If anyone wants to see a close up of something specific, or a different angle, I’d be happy to take more. I have made no attempt to clean or polish the blade, handle, scabbard, or anything else because I don’t know if that is the correct thing to do, or a no-no.

Thank you very much in advance for any help. Your expertise on these forums is much appreciated.
