Signing Off

I have not been active on the Forum for some time due to personal circumstances (not health), and I don’t see this changing.

My small collection wil be for sale at Bruce Hermann’s site, GrenadierMilitaryAntiques.com, starting in the morning.

I want to thank all of you for a great experience (I have learned much), and send particular and sincere gratitude to FB, a fine mentor indeed.

Best to all of you -

Bruce

1941 Portuguese Contract Mauser manufactured K98 rifle.

I suspect that these matching Port 41 K98s have been presented before….here it goes again.

The rifle is serial numbered H 1707 and the bayonet is serial numbered H 19063.
Not matching …but in the same H block.

I like these rifles….I think Mauser did a great job on the finishing and the stock is profusely marked.

Honest or bad collection of SS rune badge and other stuff?

Recently I bought a good and honest luftwaffe helmet from a private person in germany. Short after i received the helmet he told me that he also got his hands in some other stuff. Among this there is a SS rune badge, some books and a unterseebootsschule tallie. I know it ain’t the best pictures but so far it is these I got.

My question is of cause if any of you can spot if it is some original items I am dealing with or if the seller is just trying to squeze some money out of my pocket?

Mud men

Ok, ive just watched the last episode of Mud Men , who for some reason decided to refrain from the meaning of the title , and pay a visit to a Polish Battlefield area, the finds were good, including ordnance both live and inert/spent, but how bloody ignorant can programme researchers get and allow the two "stars" and i use that term sparingly, to continually refer to the german troops , tanks, items found , as Nazi, every flaming sentence when describing something was nazi this nazi that, apart from Johnny Vaughan who is one of the most annoying presenters on the box since it was invented , what is the matter with programmers, im sure that this was not always the case and my theory is that these new kids know no better, they are too young , have very little knowledge of history and care even less, and as with every episode, a quarter is finding items, then watching the two idiots replicating a part of history followed by a visit to a pub and all the while "Vaughanie" shouting his way through, interupting the experts who cant get a word in sideways, and they let this twat have a mudlark licence to dig 3" below surface, i wouldnt let him near a potting shed let alone handling historic items, oh and according to him one of the MGs used by the "nazis" was an MG 32 , thank god he’s gone off the screens for a while, i thought i would find the series informative and to a point i did but to endure the rest was too much, rant over:mad:

SS Feldpost Cards - Totenkopf & Das Reich

I’m inviting opinions on these feldpost cards from Totenkopf & Das Reich soldiers. I purchased them awhile ago for £30. A: Grandisch & C: Silberhorn appear as casualties on the Volksbund website. Did I get them for a good price? How collectable are they? :)
