Australian Medal Engravings

For future reference,if needed.cool militaria

Australian WW2 Medals had the Service Number, Initials and Surname engraved onto them.
The different States had a letter before an X in front of the Number,for example;
QX1234 for Queensland,
NX1234 for New South Wales
VX1234 for Victoria
SX1234 for South Australia
WX1234 for Western Australia
TX1234 for Tasmania

There were two armies Militia and AIF. Both AIF and Militia Army numbers had the prefix indicating the state of enlistment.
The X was for the Australian Imperial Forces,if there is no X then it belonged to a Militia member.
Here is an example of the engravings on 2 of my Grandfathers Medals,
Cheers Mick

Star 25A Threaded Item Found Near Spent Shells–Any Ideas?

It’s about .8" x .8" and is threaded. I have found several of these on the former British island along with the spent shells. Any idea what they were used for or may have come from? I’m fairly certain they were military related.

Thanks for any info.

Black shooting cord

This is my first post on this forum. Not to long ago I ran into a shooting cord. The wool backing on the back happened to be black. Would this mean the shooting cord was used by the SS or Panzer troops. Or could the backing just be replacement. Any thoughts would be helpful

Named British WW2 medals

Finally got these today. The War Medal and Defense medal, both named to a C Pettersen. The star medals aren’t from him, they just fill out my impression.

15.5×106mm round. BRG-15?

I bought a small ammo collection some years ago, and found this interesting piece between the rest of all the rounds.

According to the documentation of the previous owner, it belonged to an experimental heavy machine gun made by FN called the BRG-15. But it was shelved in favor of the P90.

I know most people here know more about WWI - WWII ordnance, but where else could i ask? There are no markings on the base. .50 is for size comparison, don’t mind the unstruck primer, its an empty round ;)

I would just like some confirmation and maybe if someone knows if these are rare or that many of these are in circulation?

Thanks!
