Hi All,
I picked up this wicker pannier yesterday. It was in a bit of a state with mildew and a bit of worm and a hole in the top which I am planning on fixing. It is lined with thin galvanised steel and originally had a base soldered into it as well.

I gave it a light pressure wash to clean the cack off it and it came up quite well.

It is approx 25" X 14" X 14" and dated on one of the wooden runners . It is the first time I have come across a metal lined one, did it have any special use ?

It was formed in February 1945, consisting of remnants of 8th SS Cavalry Division Florian Geyer and 22nd SS Volunteer Cavalry Division Maria Theresia, including former’s SS Pionier Battalion 8, in addition to mostly 16- or 17-year-old German, Hungarian Volkdeutsche, and ethnic Hungarian recruits. The division was intended to have three cavalry regiments of two battalions each, but due to lack of men and equipment it could only field two understrength regiments as its main combat units. I have a Bren Gun Mk I tripod with anti aircraft legs which i’ve used before. I haven’t used it in then years and can’t get the antiaircraft leg extensions to release. I thought they just pulled out but won’t. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get them to release them?
