In answer to the question: Here is one enjoying it’s shelf life in my study……………..the M17 is also basking next to it………….there is room for an M18 as well but the only problem is that I don’t have one yet !:weep:

The helmet is a slate grey colour but has clearly been White camo with the outline of a decal on the left hand side.
It has taken a bullet impact to the left rear of the skirt whcih had then gone through the liner band and liner and exited from the top of the helmet , blowing out a section of the top , the liner appears to have much dark reddish staining presumably blood. When the lid was found a large part of the top section blown out was recovered about 30 metres away , which fits perfectly with the helmet.
There is must conjecture about many helmets which are shown with Battle damage but how that occured and what was the result on any person wearing it is always open todebate ,however with this one it seems to unfortunately be fairly clear that the end result was a poor one.
