Collection - WWI, WWII, Vietnam & American Sportsman Stuff

My other collection of stuff. I usually post Third Reich Collection items. Given Wednesday, Dec 7th was the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor I thought for a change of pace I would post my US Items & also some of my other interests in collecting as well. These WWI, WWII & Vietnam Era items came from my family or my wife’s family. Many were gifts and some I purchased. The animal mounts…(fish, deer & bear, pheasants) in my home were all taken by me with bow or rifle in various US locations. Some of them I did the taxidermy on myself which is a hobby I took up many years ago. All items yield memories created with these men / soldiers along with the 1945 Jeep that my Dad, Grandfather & I restored. Grateful today that they helped shape my life with a love for country, family, militaria & the outdoors. Nothing super rare or amazing here. Hope you like.

Need help! What do you think? Help With Old Painting of Castle’s Ruin

Hello gents,

I just picked up this painting in my hometown. My first painting if you’re asking. :o
As you can see, the painting depict a ruin of castle, hill and boat. From the drawing and frame, i think it’s from the dutch colonial era. :)

I asked my friend and he said probably this is a scenery from the rhine where there’s a lot of ruins in there. When i checked on the internet, i think the castle it’s kind of similar with the ehrenfels castle in hesse.

(from wikipedia)

I guess the ruin on the right is mouse tower. After i check the history, both building was devastated in 1689 and the mouse tower was rebuild in 1855.
Drawing of both bulding in 1664
Ehrenfels_(Merian).jpg

And i found on the internet, some drawing and painting depicting the mouse tower pre 1855.

In 1841

So what do you think gents? Is my assumption is correct in here? Any comment will be really appreciated to find the origin and age of this painting. :D
Also is anyone can read the name of the painter? I can only read "D. Veerjir" or something like that.

Thank you :)

New Zealand made nPz Brodie & Hardley helmet

After a while of searching, I’ve managed to get myself an original nPz, wartime made Brodie. These are getting harder to find, following WW2 in the 1950’s a lot of nPz helmets were repainted and given new liner’s and chinstraps for a renewed life in NZ army service. So I am very happy to have found one that is still all original!

The liner is dated 1939 and the shell 1941. Liner’s for nPz’s were all imported, mostly from Britain and Australia. This helmet means a lot to me, being a New Zealander and having ancestors who served in the NZ Army during WW2, I’m glad to be able to share this one.

Below I also have pictures of what I think is a Hardley Helmet, NZ made Civilian helmets by Hardley Suitcases Ltd.

British 1939 MK1 Brodie

Picked this up alongside my other Brodies recently, it is to my best knowledge a British made MK1, still with it’s original sponge central pad instead of the more often seen rubber pad. Interestingly, the serial number also seems to be painted on rather than printed. There is also a marking on the liner with the numbers 3 and 6 below an arrow, I don’t know what this represents and have included a photo of it. The helmet has also been personalized by who I assume was the wearer.

Most of it’s paint is intact, and there are some stress ridges along the rim of the shell. I’m very happy with this earlier piece, something a bit different from the usual MK2’s! Still, anyone’s further info on the unidentified marking or on this helmet in general would be appreciated. Have a good one!

Canadian 1941 Brodie and netting

Recently got a hold of this piece, with all it’s original paint besides a few scratches. The liner and central rubber pad are in great nick, and are not too stiff at all. The net is just an added bonus, though I’m not sure if it is original to the helmet - but it definitely adds a good look to it!

Another notch in my never ending mission to complete the Brodie set
