Glamorgan Territorial Yeomanry

A recent buy it now from ebay for a very sensible price. 1908-1920 worn Territorial Yeomanry Glamorgan T over Y over Glamorgan shoulder titles still on their original chain mail epaulettes. I thought from the sellers pics they were the brass version which are the most commonly seen type of these not very commonly seen titles. However when they arrived they proved to be white metal version worn only by the band of the Glamorgan Yeomanry Territorial Force. The other of the 3 versions was gilt/gilded brass for officers.

The sellers pics, my pics of the removed and lightly cleaned titles -I’ll have to find a way to clean the surface rust from the chains- and also the RWF cap badge that was included in the lot, sadly missing its slider but still a nice pre 1920 or’s bi-metal version. It is very likely the original wearer was with the Glamorgans before being transferred to the RWF during WWI. Also a few pics of the Glamorgans during this period showing the chains and also the band. These were borrowed from Jonathan on the British badge forum.

Paybook to 10403 Sgt Arthur Bridges 1st Welch

I recently bought this little group off ebay. It’s all related to Sergeant Arthur Bridges 2nd Bn Welch Regiment disembarked France 13 Oct 1914 he also served 1st Bn the Welch Regiment later 7th Indian Division Supply and Transport. There were a couple of interesting surprises in his paperwork that the seller omitted to include in the listing. Firstly there is an entry showing the issue of the Princess Mary Gift on 31 Dec 1914. Secondly he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for Devotion in the Mesopotamia theatre.

I hope this is of interest.

Happy Xmas

Mark
