Air Ministry ‘Bergen’ 1942. Canadian markings?

Hi folks.

As promised, I thought I’d share this Bergen style ‘AM’ rucksack.

The zip is stamped with AM (Air Ministry) - Just how common are these packs I wonder?

There is evidence of some sort of marking to the rear waist yoke - 1942- Along with what looks like a Broad Arrow with a circular border. Similar to that of the Canadian WD mark. … And ZL & T LTD. How authentic they are, I’m not 100%.

The straps also carry marking, albeit, unreadable. Possible 1942 as above. I understand that they were easily lost and changed throughout the years of use.

Outer straps similar to p37 webbing, base straps look later (olive), the support straps to rear frame are unfamiliar. There is also a zipped pocket to the rear of the pack (Newey zip), as well as a synthetic waterproof cover to the inside seam. Obviously not a feature on your genuine ww2 p42 issue Bergen. A sign that it may be a later pack? …

The size is quite large - Height 53cm - Length at base 53cm - Depth at base 21cm -

Hoping I haven’t been ’stung’ ((again)). All comments welcome.

Cheers, Gillan

Actual General’s Visor cap taken from Erwin Rommel “the Desert Fox” home in WWII

Went to a local US Army military museum today and found this display of General Erwin Rommel’s visor cap. His home was occupied by this Texas Command unit and they confiscated a pair of his tall leather officer boots and a visor cap with his name in them. One picture shows the newspaper article. I took lots of close up photo’s for the inquiring collectors enjoyment. Sorry that some photo’s loaded sideways - they were not originally! To correct orientation just copy photo and edit.

Fronflugspange fuer Kampfflieger Gold

I picked this one up along with the Bronze and Silver grades because I wanted to complete the trio (yes, I know, greedy but the cash needed to be saved from being spent on curtains and such crap!)

It is a nice tombak piece and the only issue is the break in the wreath at the ten o-clock position. Not really a huge issue as this is fairly common with these but I am already thinking I need to get an unbroken piece:rolleyes:

Regards

Mark

Question Kriegsmarine binoculars 7 X 50 Flak (Kuste)

Does anybody have any knowledge on Kriegsmarine binoculars?
I have recently obtained these. They were originally left and found at Batterie Lothringen in Jersey at the end of the war.
Any information on the numbers would be much appreciated.
