I am pleased to share my newest non-US helmet. I happened upon this for sale and couldn’t resist. It shipped from a shop in Bristol but other than that I have no background on it. I am familiar with the classic "W" painted helmets but the artwork and large diamond really drew me to this one. Would the diamond be an insignia of some sort, or just applied for additional visibility? I absolutely love the stylized "W."
Hard to make out the maker mark on this one, but it’s dated 1940. The liner is dry and needs cleaning, but I have not yet peeled back the liner to see what the suspension is dated. It appears this had gray-green paint when it was fitted with the liner, and then the outside was painted black. The interior has the original color. Chinstrap is marked "M" for magnetic, if my forum research is correct. Rim is punched.
Lots of photos to follow. All feedback most welcomed!
Here is another piece recently acquired. I have included two pictures that make me scratch my head a bit. One of which shows the pin in it’s resting position, which is loose or "lazy", meaning that it can slide a few degrees to the right of the catch and basically flop around there.
Another reference site that seems quite comprehensive states that the pin should be retained and resist being pulled away from the catch. I figured it could just be 70+ years of wear, but it could also be an example of bad craftsmanship.
The other shows the inside of the pin, where a marking of some kind is visible. It is very small, and hard to make out, so I have included a picture here. Since I can’t make out what it says, I can’t reference it to the maker’s list published on that same reference site.
The back of the cross has some significant scratches as well.
With between 300k to 575k of these awarded, I see a much great possibility of these being widely faked.
any info and value of this Veterans pin will be appreciated, most of the vet pins i have encountered have a shorter sword and the wings are different?

Hello friends, After some research, I believe this is an original Souval tank assault badge in silver. It appears to have the heavy patina associated with this type. I would appreciate any feedback. NH
Bought a very nice m35 helmet yesrerday. Looks like it had a field repaint or is reissued. It has been found in russia 10,5cm howitzer position near stalingrad.
What came to my eyes was the weird white paint coming through the green paint.
Could it be a ss decal? ( bought it as a wehrmacht helmet so no worry if it’s not ss)
