Collection room addition

I volunteer restoring planes down at my local museum and I acquired this pilot side window off of a sikorsky H-19 helicopter which is beyond restoration. I painted some RCAF things on it (not perfect) im not the best painter but I thought it’d make a good tribute. 10595981059599

U Boat Deck Eagle

Hello All,
as ever in my pursuit of exotica this eagle came up on auction on flabby and I just had to have it…..

Yes I bought the story rather than the item because apart from the 1990s auction catalogue blurb there is absolutely no evidence to where this bird came from.

The auction blurb went something like: taken from a U boat off Torquay. Damaged by gunfire etc.

The seller put down the weight as 20Kg which I thought for a hunk of bronze it would be worth a bid either way.

It turns out to be 5Kg.

It has a wingspan of 24 inches.

So to the pictures:

Quite an impressive looking bird I think

The gunfire damage:

So looking at the eagle and in particular the legs it looks to me as though this was originally perched on to something.

This for me is not a story killer as some time ago I picked up a denazified Luftwaffe eagle which again was supposed to have come out of a u boat. (http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/art-de…ght=boat+eagle)

The wings have two threaded holes that would have been used to mount it directly to a backplate.

All I need to corroborate the story is a u boat vet who has a picture of it inside the boat!

Any thoughts or opinions welcomed

Cheers
Doug

Fortunes Of War Militaria Site Update: 3-23-2017

Today, Fortunes of War Militaria updated its Japanese "Good Luck Flag" category with a named flag with numerous well-wishers signing. The flag comes with a money belt and was brought back by a U.S. Army veteran who captured it in the Battle of Buna, New Guinea in 1942. Stay tuned for more updates. Thank you.

Question WW2 paratrooper badge

Hello. I just obtained a paratrooper badge from ww2. I wanted some help in finding out whose this was and if it is real and approximate value. The number on the wreath is 1279 and the on the wings is 2013. How can I post pictures?

Question Friedrich Linden Unmarked Infanterie Sturmabzeichen Opinions

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your opinions and help on the previous badges. Here is what I believe to be an unmarked FLL, I even like the hardware on the reverse of this, so thanks in advance for all opinions and comments on this one.

Kriegsverdienstkreuz Klasse 1. mit schwertern - L58 Rudolf Souval

Afternoon gents

Looking at this KVK1 with swords which is a screwback. If purchased it would be my first SB version.

My slowly increasing knowledge isn’t noticing anything out of the ordinary with this Souval Zincker but as always, it’s good to have your opinions.

Thank ye in advance, JD.
