Picked this up from Chris Jones about 20 years ago, clearly a battle worn single decal M40 Heer complete with slightly damaged liner and shortened chin strap. The left chin strap bale is gone and there is some apparent damage to the small aluminum rivets that hold the leather to the band in that area which suggests to me that the helmet was forcefully torn away from a mooring to which the strap was attached. It may have been torn from the head of the wearer by an exploding shell??? Anyway, the liner is a size 55 so it is a size 62 shell but the maker/size stamp cant be made out. The lot number is 31458. I believe that it is actually an EF shell based upon the way the lot number was stamped into the apron. There are the faint remnants of a dome stamp but I cant make it out. The decal is fairly intact. A decent example in my humble opinion. Hope you like it. Jim G.
Hey I’m a new member, I occasionally collect militaria mainly WW2 and some Vietnam stuff. I am looking forward to being able to meet other fellow collectors
hello all, im new to the forum, I am a collector of ww1/ww2/cold war and general militaria. I have a decent sized collection and I am always keen to learn more. most of my stuff is at the cheaper end of the collectors market, mainly because I do not know enough about the expensive items and I don’t want to risk getting burned with a fake….although I know that I have a couple of suspect items in my collection…oh and also I don’t have the funds to get really expensive stuff!. anyway I look forward to being able to post on the forum and expand my knowledge….thanks
Good day.
Can I please ask for Your helpful opinions on this Braunschweiger totenkopf (with 3 prong attachment)? There is also a photo coming with it.I do have two ground dugs which both have 2 prong attachment (adding a photo of them too).
Best regards,
Peter
