Ike Jacket with no ID (1950s?)

Hello, this is my first post on this forum! I have this wool Ike jacket but it lacks any form of identification. There’s no tag, I checked its three pockets, turned the one that’s on the inside, inside-out. No patches. It’s lined in rayon, or some smooth fabric, and there are three button holes on the inside on the bottom in the back. It has a buckle with a belt for adjusting the size. Which is unlike most examples that I could find which had a single button or small adjusters on the sides of the waist. To me it most resembles one I found in a photograph worn by Eisenhower himself. I’d appreciate anybody’s expertise in finding a rough date on this jacket. I have a pair of trousers, you can kind of see them in the first picture, which pretty much match the jacket. I found them to be M-1951. So I guess that might give me a clue this is a post-war Ike Jacket? Maybe for an officer?

Need help! Shin Gunto identification

I have recently come into possession of a shin gunto katana, and as I know next to nothing about swords, I was wondering if any one could help me verify its authenticity.

Another V-E Day Newspaper

It seems I’ve found a new obsessive microcosm within this hobby!

Recently, I’ve found myself trawling various sites for Second World War-era newspapers. They’re very cheap, fascinating to read and easy to store. Add that to the sheer number of issues and publications, and it’s a facet of militaria collecting that could keep one occupied for years.

This is one that was surprisingly difficult to find. The May 9th, 1945 edition of the Daily Mirror, a newspaper still in print in Britain to this day. Many British newspapers of this period that appear on sites like eBay are overwhelmingly facsimile copies. Nice, then, to have an original one. There’s no way to be one hundred percent certain, of course. But the aging and fragile feel of the piece give me the impression that it’s far older than the typical 1970’s reprint. Also note the door number penciled in the bottom right corner of the front page.

It’s much thinner than other newspapers I’ve collected, but has some fantastic images and stories covering the V-E Day celebrations in London the day prior. I’ve done my best to photograph it so that it can be read, but my tablet isn’t fond of cooperating at the best of times.

Regards, B.B.

Help with ID of arm shield…

Hello all, I am back after a bit of a long hiatus, but glad to be here with all of you lovely War Relics folks! Question for the forum today is, what kind of arm shield is this?! I could not find it through any of my research, it seems to be high quality, and consistent with the construction of items from pre-1945 period. Thank you all for your help!

Jeff

ET64 (4397) DD HEER Russian ameoba

Evening gents, just for something to do I put my Russian amoeba pattern cover (original material, thread and old wire, but put together and aged by myself) onto this ET64 lot 4397 HEER helmet as the pitted surface to one side matches up quite nicely with the look of the cover. Caps married up to tunics

I did a bit of re-arranging a few days back, and put these tunics and caps together, which I thought looked like possibly the
best combinations, and "Stonemint" suggested I post the photos up, so here are my recent photos…..
