I just wanted to start a discussion on the so-called ‘medic helmet’ - you know, the ones that have seemed to turn up in increasing numbers over the last 10 years and which polarize so many collectors. White with a BIG red cross on them?

Some say they didn’t exist during the war ( but photos seem to prove otherwise )

Of course this guy used strips of cloth - which I think is quite cool!!cool militaria

And this one used a FULL cloth cover

But certainly the ones ( most of them ) that we see these day are contrived ‘art’ helmets.

There are lots of period images showing medics WITHOUT any such helmet - just a plain issued stahlhelm - but you cannot dismiss the painted ones out of hand with photos such as these.

So what are YOUR thoughts? Do you have a helmet that can be proven to be period? ( I don’t ) If you do, please show it here - or if you can finger ones that are definitely fake, show us all so we can all learn. Many collectors avoid them like the plague because of the concern over them but I think we have a ‘duty of care’ for the up and coming generation to name & shame if we can..:o(

Morning everyone,
I ask your help to identify this helmet and receive some information about its manufacturer, that is unknown to me.
I’ve been watching it for some time, and then I decided to take it because I was curious about his mark on the shell, and wanted to study it better.
It looks like a common Mk2 No. 2C, but it is very well constructed, because the surface looks perfectly smooth, unlike the JSS examples where the pressure signs are visible; the three holes are on both sides, as in the BMB examples.
The shell is magnetic while the chinstrap springs is not; it is marked under the flap, to one side with the "001 1 1940", to other side with the name "ELCOCK" which I think is the manufacturer.
Unlike the JSS and BMB examples I have in the collection, it uses a Mk1 Army liner with acceptance stamp and marked "VERO 1938", size 6-3/4.
The frontal logo, unknown to me, makes me think it belonged to a British factory civilian worker.
I also take the opportunity to ask you a question about the correct classification:
- Is a helmet used by civilian workers to be considered a "Home Front", or is this term reserved only to examples used by governmental organizations?

Hi I was looking for a nice sa dagger online and I found this one. It seems pretty legit and seems to be no reason not to trust him but just want to be 100% lol. He’s selling it for 350$ but it doesn’t include the scabbard. Here are a few pictures for reference.
