I have this US Army collar disc that I’m having a tough time dating. As you’ll see in the photos, it is a 2-piece badge, with separate US attached to a plain disc. It has a screw back, and looks like it may have been gilt. Now, I would expect a WW2 era collar disc to have periods, i.e. U.S rather than US,, but this one doesn’t have them. Is this something unusual, or just a variation of a common type of disc?

I was pleased to find these boots the other day, they are the first wartime boots I have found and the condition is amazing. The cleats look a little over the top for a lieutenant in the Pay Corps.
