Hello folks,

I’m trying to gather information about the uniforms worn on Crete by the British troops. I have most of the equipment but the uniform is proving to be a pain…
So far I’ve figured the type of KD shorts I need but I’m having some trouble with the shirt/jacket.
The questions are:
-What is the type of the jacket?
-Did they wear a jacket or a shirt?
-What kind of buttons should I put on it? Plain or with a crest?

…and a bonus one: up to what rank did the british soldier carry a webbing with ammo pouches, entreching kit, water bottle, havershack etc? (that is for the eppaulettes I’m looking to purchase)

If you could answer or point me to the right direction it’d be much appreciated. I’m looking for a nice book regarding the KD uniforms but I can’t find any…

ps I know that the soldiers on Crete were dressed with all kinds of equipment and peieces of uniform but I’m trying to build a ‘normal’ one if that makes any sense.

So, I started collecting when I was around 11.. I’m 13 now. 20 bucks a week for a collection for 2 years results in this mess of miscellaneous items, mostly WWI-Korean War items, I might have one or two things from Vietnam. Some of the rarest things I own are the Newfoundland regiment items, which my own ancestor was in.

Could use help with the painted ammunition crate.. White with a red cross. Not sure why?

First, let me say I have no knowledge at all about German helmets or their decals.

I came across this photo and first assumed it was simply mirrored, till I noticed that the sleeve eagle actually is at correct place and the runes themselves point the right way. Was it common practice to put a rune decal on the left side of the helmet? I never noticed it before.

Dear Sirs. I recently encountered this jacket that according to the label inside the pocket once belonget to Captain Robert A. Karr from the 5th Fighter Squadron Regiment: 52d Fighter Group.

I´m not at all familiar with these kind of uniforms and would very much appreciate your input when it comes to authenticity issues rgarding this item.

Hi guys, found this recently and thought it has a military feel to it.
I bought it with a few bits relating to an observer in the RAF/RFC, but that doesnt help much as there may be no connection between the items at all….
I thought it could be french?? maybe private purchase?
Has anybody seen anything like it as im struggling.
I thought the makers mark on the press stud may help but so far im drawing a blank.

any pointers VERY greatly appreciated
